Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 March 2026

1. Overview

Defend My Build ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: Email address, name (if provided), and profile type — collected via Clerk (our authentication provider) when you create an account.
  • User-generated content: Posts, comments, and the information contained within them that you voluntarily submit.
  • Usage data: Standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited — collected automatically by Vercel (our hosting provider).
  • Photo and document metadata: When you upload evidence we read the file's own embedded metadata — the date and time it was captured and, if the file carries them, GPS coordinates — and store them alongside the file. This is what lets your evidence show when and where a defect was photographed rather than merely when you uploaded it. We also compute a SHA-256 checksum of the stored file so its integrity can be demonstrated later. We never modify your original file. If you would rather not share location, remove the location data from the photo before uploading, or disable location tagging in your camera app.

We do not collect payment information, government identifiers, or sensitive personal information.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the Platform;
  • To display user-generated content to the community;
  • To detect and prevent fraudulent, spam, or prohibited activity;
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Clerk (clerk.com) — authentication and identity management;
  • Supabase (supabase.com) — database storage for posts and comments;
  • Vercel (vercel.com) — website hosting, delivery, and server logs;
  • Stripe (stripe.com) — payment processing (PCI-DSS compliant; we do not store card details);
  • Resend (resend.com) — transactional email delivery (account notifications only);
  • Google (Gemini API, ai.google.dev) — AI analysis of the photos and defect descriptions you submit to the AI defect analysis feature.

Data is stored on servers located in the United States and/or Australia. By using this Platform you consent to this transfer.

Data Retention: Account data is retained until you request deletion. Server logs are retained for 90 days. Error reports are retained for 30 days.

5. Public Content

Posts and comments you submit are publicly visible to all visitors of the Platform, including the author name you provide (or "Anonymous" if none). Do not include private personal information about yourself or others in your posts.

6. Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

  • Access personal information we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate information;
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.

To exercise these rights, email info@axdintelligence.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. You can also delete your account in the app: doing so permanently removes your projects, defects, disputes, documents, uploaded files, comments and community posts.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies only — those required to operate authentication (Clerk session cookies). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

8. Children

This Platform is not directed at persons under 18 years of age. If you are under 18, do not create an account or submit content.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The revised policy will be posted at this URL with an updated date.

10. Contact & Complaints

Privacy enquiries: info@axdintelligence.com.au. If you believe we have breached the APPs, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
